President’s Patter – January

Published on 9th February 2023 in Uncategorised

I am pleased to say that the Board has commenced formulating our next 5 Year Development Plan. Our first meeting was held in the lunch room of the new grounds staff shed and what a great facility that is!

Thanks to the active participation of members during our ‘Think Tank’ sessions last year we have a wealth of great ideas and suggestions many of which have already been incorporated into an initial draft document.

This is an exciting process to be involved in and a great opportunity to also reflect on how much has been achieved in the Club thus far.

The recent Australia Day Classic sponsored by Bethanie was a great success and, as is becoming a regular occurrence, Des received some great feedback from members and returning visitors. I would like to thank all the members who volunteered their time to assist staff in this event. Gary Pritchard and I, whilst sharing a few laughs and a well-earned coffee, cooked over 12 kilos of bacon for breakfast on the Sunday so along with the excellent buffet presented by Chef Ross on the Saturday night I know nobody went hungry. Tanya Brennan did her usual excellent job of making sure all was running smoothly and the bar staff under Ross Kirby kept us all well hydrated.

Another excellent event and as ever our grateful thanks to Bethanie for their generous support of this event over several years.

I am sure you will join the Board and I in wishing our GM Des hearty congratulations and best wishes for his forthcoming wedding to Leah. Des will be taking a couple of weeks of leave from the 9th of February and we look forward to his return in early March.

In the meantime, I along with 18 other members will be playing golf in Esperance and having a few laughs, probably mostly about our poor golf I am sure!

See you at the upcoming Leschenault Classic! Till then happy golfing!
