Members Update 19th May

Published on 19th May 2020 in Members News

Member Update

Updates are now becoming less frequent as the COVID 19 restrictions have begun to ease allowing some continuity and planning. With the release of the WA Roadmap to ease restrictions we are anticipating being able to open the clubhouse in some capacity in June following a release date and conditions of phase 3 from the Chief Health Officer.

Tables have been set up on the patio for members to socialise post round with Tea & Coffee now available from 8am to 3pm in the Proshop with variety of Hot & Cold snack food options and cakes/slices. All sandwiches/cakes/slices are made fresh from our Kitchen team.

PLEASE NOTE: Under the current restriction’s alcohol consumption will continue to be PROHIBITED within the clubhouse or surrounding area and must only be opened on course during play.

Timesheets continue to be monitored daily and we will continue with one tee starts. Please ensure to check your tee times regularly as they are subject to minor change.

 COVID-19 Safety Plan

The safety of our staff, members & guests is our number one priority. All staff have completed additional training and completed the AHA Hospitality & Tourism COVID-19 Hygiene Course.

We are currently finalising our COVID 19 safety plan to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 to ensure we meet all the necessary requirements to reopen the Bar and Clubhouse. This includes-

·         Maintain a strict limit of a minimum of four-square metres (4sqm) per person

·         Ensure a maximum of 20 patrons are gathered (excluding staff)

·         Maintain hygiene and frequent cleaning (Daily cleaning registers are completed for our records)

·         Display the COVID Safety Plan Certification prior to re-opening

·         Ensure ALL staff have completed the AHA Hospitality & Tourism COVID-19 Hygiene Course before returning to work

·         Maintain attendance records of patrons for the purposes of contact tracing. (Online golf bookings will remain compulsory for all competition and social play)

·         Carefully manage Pro Shop registrations, post golf gatherings to ensure social distancing and hygiene practices are maintained.

We have implemented many protective measures to keep everyone healthy and to reduce the risk should an outbreak occur. Our hygiene control is regularly reviewed ultimately ensuring that we can continue to operate offering golf and services to members and guests in a safe environment.

Competition Update

Members may have noticed some changes to the trophy allocation and prize levels. For your information, the competition fee has a $1 Minor Capital Works Levy included for club projects (Please see Club Annual Reports on the website for how this is spent) Under the COVID-19 restrictions the Board approved to temporarily add this $1 to the trophy subsidy in lieu of receiving sponsorship for regular competition prizes. Sponsorship is an important part of the club and the success of the competitions offered. It is anticipated that the additional $1 for trophies will be re allocated when the Clubhouse opens with competition sponsorship returning.

The golf calendar is now being reviewed with a new fixture of Gold Letter events to be released in due course.

Moving Forward

As COVID-19 is an ever-changing event with many uncertainties, weekly meetings will continue to review and discuss the current situation, look at how the future might look and what services we can effectively and efficiently add for members and guests. This is to ensure we are actively implementing the correct measures to protect our staff and ensure continuity of service for our members. We will continue to follow government directives and health experts’ advice in our decision making.

We are in this together

COVID-19 is an ever-changing, unprecedented global event, on behalf of the Board I would like to thank our staff for their commitment with managers and staff completing all cleaning duties, from the back of house “Spring Clean”, new procedures, and improvements in all departments ready for the restart to ensure the club returns in a better position. Our Grounds team have completed many projects on course plus changes made to the course maintenance program will see much improvement next Summer and beyond. All staff have been subject to changed rosters, duties and responsibilities which has shown the commitment and passion our staff have for our club.

The Board and management team are immensely proud to continue to work through the many challenges to ensure the club returns in a positive position. We will continue to put our members needs and staff safety at the forefront of any changes we implement.

We thank everyone for their patience and understanding in these unprecedented times. Only by working together with our members and stakeholders can we reduce the impact COVID-19.

Good golfing,

Des Shearer
