2023 Men’s Pennant Wrap

Published on 31st July 2023 in Guest News, Latest News, Members News, Social News

The BGC Men’s Metropolitan Pennants campaign has now been completed for this year. We need to thank our sponsors for the support in helping out with the costs of uniforms and catering for our home games:
Civil Construction Services, Jetline Curbing, Bunbury Roofing, Townsend Paints, Chis O’Keefe Painting, Bunbury Mitsubishi, Peter Martinson, Rose Hotel
The players would also like to thank BGC match committee and the grounds team for making the course available and preparing it for the home fixtures.

We fielded 4 teams in Division 1, 4, 5 & 6 which pitted our players against some of the best amateur players in WA on a weekly basis, and the Division 5 team came away victorious bringing home the pennant flag.

A note from the Div 5 captain Warren Hann;
On Sunday the Division 5 pennant team travelled to Kwinana to play off in the final.
After winning a thrilling last round match to finish top of the Southern division we qualified for the flag playoff against the north of the river division leaders in Wanneroo
Giving away 14 shots in handicap to the opponents we played the perfect final winning 6/1 and securing another pennant for BGC.
The team of Chis Denholm, Jedd Host, Dean Foreman, Joey McEvoy, Alistair Knight, Steve Ardille, Simone Boccia and Warren Hann had a fantastic season
This could not have been achieved without the Pennant leadership group who put in hours of their own time to make pennants possible , awesome sponsors, the caddies , our legend bus driver Adam and the many supporters who travelled up to watch the play off.

The other three team once again put in solid seasons to maintain their status, with the Division 1 team having a great win against Cottesloe in the last round to confirm their status in Division one for next year. This will be the third year this team will be competing at the highest level in WA amateur men’s golf and it is a fantastic effort for such a small club and has many of the metro clubs scratching their heads.

Well done to all and we are looking forward to a bigger and better season next year.

The pennants leadership team will be meeting shortly to review the season and make plans for the next seasons campaign and we will be getting all the boys and sponsors together for a quiet sherbet in the next week or two.
