President’s Report

Published on 11th October 2018 in Members News

Dear Members,

Congratulations to all involved with the success of our Members Draw last Saturday night. In particular I would like to thank Mandi for her organisation, Des, Libby, and our wonderful Food & Beverage staff. Over 140 people in the club enjoying a great night. Well done to our major prize winners Dennis Sprigg, Val Scott and Jerry Giankulos.

The Members Jackpot Draw and meals continues on Friday nights with a steady increase in numbers as the Jackpot rises. The Club is the place to be on a Friday evening and as the weather starts to warm up how great will it be out on that decking area?

As I mentioned at the member’s draw, planning is well under way for our 70th Celebration on Dec 1st.  Tami and her team promise a night that will be something special. Bruce Clapp and his band providing the music, complimentary champagne on arrival as well as a little nostalgia. Tickets will be available soon.

Make sure you enter this year’s Castieau Classic. 36 holes of mixed 4BBB Stableford over two days on November 17th&18th. Barney Jones (Gina’s Homecare) is a great member as well as a very generous sponsor and it’s always a great weekend.

This year’s AGM is on Monday 26th November. Nomination forms are available on our website. Please nominate for a position if you have the time to commit to improving our great club. If you don’t wish to be involved at a Director level but have the passion to be involved in some way then I urge you to consider being on one of the committees, Match, Grounds, House/Social, Membership or Finance. Our House/Social and Match Committees really do need good numbers as they have monthly duty rosters that need filling.

The Club Upgrade is nearly complete. The Decking/Verandah section should be completed in a fortnight. Next week the bulk of our new furniture should arrive. That includes the outdoor furniture as well as the new clubhouse chairs. The main honour board should be in position by the end of this week and the new meeting room table should be ready soon. Many will have noticed the decking area is not closed in underneath but it is the intention of the Building Committee to finish that off in the near future.

The course is coming back well from the coring. The ground-staff have been particularly busy at this time of the year particularly with the grooming of the fairways and the continued treatment of Kikuyu. With a bit of sunshine the course will be looking great in a couple of weeks. I would also like to welcome Ben our new apprentice to the team and wish him well.

As a Board we welcome all feedback. Please note that the Suggestion Box is now located on the Members Menu following a very useful suggestion.
