President’s Update

Published on 20th August 2020 in Members News

Dear Members,

Although we are far from out of the woods with regard to the Covid 19 situation, the club is progressing very well. Our Club Championships & Foursomes Championships have been played and won (congratulations to all winners). Friday nights are back to near full strength & we are into the last quarter of the membership year.

I will take this opportunity to announce that the Board have approved the recommendation of the Finance Committee to freeze the subscriptions at the 2019 – 2020 rate. This is an acknowledgement of the commitment of you, our members, during the hard stages of the Covid virus. We have also received generous financial assistance from the state & federal governments that has placed the club in a sound financial position.

It is very pleasing to report that our overall membership has increased by 6.3% this year, up from 817 to 871. All indications are that our new members are embracing life at our club and are keen to continue on into the future. The club has also seen fit to extend a social membership to the parents of each of our Junior players to bring them into the fold.

Very recently our iconic 10th hole made the list of the top 100 best Par 3 holes in Australia. Great publicity for our club and it has been suggested that we promote that achievement by appropriate visual signage on the tee.

Next Monday afternoon the board are meeting to set a priority list for expenditure for the next two years. That list together with our 5 year Strategic Plan will allow us to continue to progress forward and maintain our sound financial situation.

I would like to highlight an issue raised at our Mid Year Member’s Forum. Occasionally some members do not abide by the club dress standards & frequent the clubhouse wearing T shirts (without a collar). It is a basic requirement of nearly every golf club in Australia for collared shirts to be worn by male members & I would like them to honour that rule, please.

I believe that the 6th green is nearly ready for play & we are anxious to get back to our full course Happy golfing & I look forward to a big field for the President’s Cup next month.

Regards

President Geoff
