Members Update – 8th April 2020

Published on 8th April 2020 in Members News

Dear Members,

It has been 4 weeks since the start of the COVID 19 pandemic impacting on the club, and just now finding some continuity with what we can and cant do as a club with regard to playing golf… the game we all love.

With courses closing all over the state and re opening again before closing again it has been a whirlwind and such an operational challenge with changes occurring daily to consider. Personally, I would like to thank all the members and the staff for the support received during what has been such a challenging time for the club and for everyone.

With things starting to settle and a new way of golf, we are constantly reviewing our options and current opportunities. We are receiving multiple requests from members to re start competitions with a view to raise much needed revenue for the club. Whilst this for some appears to be a simple solution it also remains a sensitive situation within the community and among some members as many sports are not able to compete.

The Board are constantly reviewing the situation and are strongly considering the return of competition play soon. The staff and Board would like to further thank all members for assisting with abiding by all the social distancing procedures and hygiene polices when visiting the club to reduce the risk of spreading the virus and keeping our  staff safe at all times.

Further to the above, the club is taking advantage of the situation with all upcoming Major Events postponed to bring forward some course projects such as-

  • Redesign short game practice area
  • Replace upper putting green (seeded)
  • Replace 6th green (seeded)

The putting green commenced today and the 6th green will commence tomorrow with a temporary green to be in place for approx 12 weeks. This green will be built to the same specs, turf and soil profiles as completed on greens 1, 4, 9, 12, 16 under the guidance of our Course Superintendent Dave Brennan.

The club has also committed to a path upgrade program with the success of the first path upgraded on hole 8 using a combination of limestone and concrete.

The 2 players per group, Members only and the compulsory social booking tee times is here to stay for some time… Please continue to enjoy your golf… and remember it is physical distancing… not social… lets all keep social and stay connected via social media, telephone, SMS, email and many others… Stay safe and good golfing.
