BGC Men’s and Women’s Foursomes Championship 21st May 2022 (C)

CONDITIONS of COMPETITION

PARTICIPANTS:

This a Closed Gold Letter Event. To be eligible to win the Major prizes, participants must be FULL MEMBERS or JUNIOR SPR members of the BGC and must have played a minimum of 6 rounds of 18 holes (or the equivalent number of 9 hole rounds) in Individual competitions at Senior level, in the 12 months prior to this event. Other membership categories and visitors may play in this event but are only eligible to win CLUB trophies (credits/balls) plus novelties.

Note:   Special exemptions by the Match Committee to these conditions may be applied e.g. returning from long term illness or injury. Players requesting special exemption need to apply in writing to Match.

COMPETITION ENTRIES:

Entry is via the BGC website online booking timesheet. Two players play as partners and use one ball. The partners tee off alternately from each tee and thereafter strike the ball alternately during the play of each hole. Scoring is done as for a stroke round and the total is subject to a deduction of half the partners’ aggregate handicaps for the Nett portion of the event.

ORDER OF PLAY:

In a multiple- round event, one player will tee off on ODD numbered holes in round 1 (am) and their partner will tee off on EVEN numbered holes (am). The reverse will occur in the afternoon round.

Note:   If either player incurs a penalty, it does not alter the rotation of play, e.g. if Player 1 hits the wrong ball (a 2 stroke penalty is applied), then Player 1 must play the correct ball from its original position.

RULES:

The rules of golf as adopted by Golf Australia and such local rules as are in force on the course will apply. If a dispute arises on any point, it shall be decided by the Match Committee whose decision shall be final.

TIES:

If there is a tie for the Gross event the result will be determined by a sudden death playoff on the 18th hole until a result is achieved. All other ties will be decided utilizing the Australian count back system. Players need to be aware of their score and be ready to play in a playoff if necessary.

PRIZES:

Players may win any of the novelties but may only win one of the sponsored trophies on the day.

PROTESTS:

Protests must be submitted to the Match Committee no later than 10 minutes after the conclusion of the player’s round. The decision of the Match Committee shall be final in all matters relating to the event.

ABANDONED PLAY:

Should play be abandoned for any reason, then the Match Committee will determine how prizes (if any) will be allocated.

USE OF MOTORISED CARTS:

To be eligible to win the Gross prizes, players shall not ride in/on a motorized vehicle during this competition without a current medical certificate AND prior approval from the Match Committee.

Note:   Players who use motorised transport, without a medical certificate, are eligible for the Nett event prizes only.

MOBILE PHONES:

Mobile phones, if carried, must be on SILENT and used only for scoring with the MiScore App.

LOCAL RULES:

All Local Rules are on the Match notice board displayed outside the entrance to the Pro-shop.

  • Note: The local rule giving the option to play a ball from the fairway for an additional two shot penalty for a ball that is lost or out of bounds is NOT IN PLAY for this event.

The BGC Match Committee reserve the right to change any conditions of play should circumstances so require.
